Ashutosh College was established in July 1916 and was initially called South Suburban College. Established by Sir Asutosh Mukherjee this college is located in Kolkata. Under the new scheme of UGC, Ashutosh College was the first college in West Bengal to go under Accreditation and Assessment by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in 2002.
The college has around 430 numbers of staff members and nearly 6000 numbers of students. Asutosh College has currently been graded as NAAC Grade A with a CGPA of 3.22 in 2016.

Ashutosh College Admission for the academic year of 2024, students applying to Ashutosh College will need to meet certain criteria to be accepted. The applicants must have obtained a grade of at least 50% overall on their HSC examination and a grade of at least 45% in each of the courses for which they are seeking an honors program. A passing grade of forty percent on the HSC is necessary for admission to the General Course, which has similar prerequisites.
When selecting students to enroll in each UG program, the merit list is used as the primary basis for doing so. When compiling the merit list, the highest-scoring four sections from the High School Certificate qualifying exam are given the most weight. The group discussion and personal interview make up the bulk of the BBA (Hons.) admissions 2024 process.

Asutosh College PG admission into the M.Sc. course, in particular, will be granted in 2024 to students whose scores on the preparatory exam meet the minimum requirements. The Master of Science course is completed in two years. The college provides a total of six distinct Master of Science degrees, as well as a Master of Arts in Bengali.
Candidates for the Master of Arts degree are required to have finished a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) study in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 40% of their grades at the honors level. Candidates pursuing the Master of Science degree are required to have a Bachelor of Science with Honours in the same field as their intended area of study. The graduate college admissions test is used to select students for enrollment in the postgraduate degree programs.
