Parameters of NIRF Ranking
NIRF Ranking does a deep analysis of the university by focusing not only on their academic performance but also on other important parameters that play a considerable role in the overall growth of the students as well as the institutions. The framework provides the rank to the institutions based on the scores they receive. The institution's overall score is calculated by adding the score of five individual parameters. More details about these parameters are mentioned below:
Teaching, Learning, and Resources
This parameter is one of the five parameters based on the result of the NIRF Ranking. This parameter focuses on the number of PhD scholars and faculties present at the institution. The ranking scheme puts more emphasis on the number of permanent faculties present at the concerned institution. Various academic and non-academic related resources such as libraries, labs, cafeterias, etc., also play an important role in deciding the ranking of an institution.
Research and Professional Practice
This parameter of NIRF Ranking assesses several aspects which assess the research field of an institution. It analyzes the number of citations published in the past 3 years. The quality of the research work along with the earnings that an institution has witnessed from the published research works are analyzed in this parameter. Not only the quantity but the quality of the research works are also kept in focus.
Graduation Outcome
An educational institution’s real worth can be tested primarily through the number of students who have completed their education at a respected institution. Hence, the NIRF Ranking analyzes the number of PhD scholars who have graduated from the concerned institution. The metric of examinations conducted by the university is also analyzed under this parameter.
Outreach and Inclusivity
The way an institution tries to make all the students fit in plays a major role in the succession of an institution. The number of female, socially challenged, other country students and physically disabled students enrolled on several courses at an institution is kept in focus. NIRF Ranking gives scores to all the institutions by giving 10% weightage to this parameter. The facilities that a physically challenged student gets at the institution are also considered in this parameter.
Peer perception
This parameter is analyzed by keeping into view the data collected via multiple surveys done in the general community. The survey done in the parent community also plays an essential role. Maintaining a good reputation and gaining a positive response through the surveys becomes one of the primary targets in this parameter. All the institutions should know that this parameter also weighs 10% in the total scores of NIRF Ranking 2024.
